About
Kate Halfpenny is a celebrity stylist, esteemed fashion designer and founder of British luxury bridalwear brand, Halfpenny London.
Kate graduated with a BA Honours degree in Fashion Design in 1998 followed by a Masters in textile design from London’s prestigious Central St Martins. Before founding Halfpenny London, Kate worked at the centre of London’s fashion industry, first for Vivienne Westwood and then for ground-breaking costume designers The New Renaissance.
It was at this time that Kate successfully carved a career as a freelance stylist and soon began creating dresses for her celebrity clients, from Rihanna to British icons Emilia Fox, Erin O’Connor and Kate Moss. It was after actress Emilia Fox wore one of Kate’s intricate silk floral creations on her wedding day that Halfpenny London was born; inundated with requests and following a subsequent Vogue interview, Kate founded her eponymous wedding dress brand.
Founded in London in 2005, Halfpenny London has become one of the UK’s leading high-end bridal and eveningwear brands, with a flagship store in central London and a presence in some of the most highly regarded bridal boutiques across the UK and internationally. Weaving Brit cool with a luxe sensibility, Kate creates innovative, chic dresses and separates for the modern woman. Her exquisite and highly distinctive pieces transcend the world of bridal and have become coveted by the fashion elite with impeccable red carpet style, such as Liv Tyler, Kate Moss, Holly Willoughby, Millie Mackintosh and Daisy Lowe to name but a few.
Kate’s expert knowledge, exquisite designs and infectious personality have gained her a huge social media following and she continues to work with her A-list clientele. She offers a personal styling package and is available for bespoke commissions be it Bridal, ready-to-wear or evening gowns from the Halfpenny London atelier in Bloomsbury.
Kate lives in London with her husband James and young son Sylvester.
